Neuromuscular – The “Extreme Makeover” Facelift Denture

Wear dentures that function well, feel great and make you look years younger. Patients come from everywhere in Southwestern Ontario, the York Region and the GTA to have Sommer Denture Center fit them for Strickland Facelift Dentures™. Many dentures wearers are not aware that the fit and comfort of a denture is strongly influenced by occlusion – commonly known as your bite – and the reaction of your facial muscles. Because the fit of dentures depends partly on this muscle action, achieving stable and relaxed muscles automatically results in a better fit. And Strickland Facelift Dentures™ work with your muscles to create the movement and look of your younger face with your own natural teeth.

When your teeth do not come together correctly, the muscles around your mouth compensate for this without you really noticing. Because the muscles never fully relax, you can experience other symptoms such as:
  • Frequent headaches
  • Ringing & congested ears
  • Popping or clicking of the jaw
  • Shoulder, neck & back pain
  • Clenching & teeth grinding
  • Tingling of the fingers
  • Sensitive teeth & oral tissue

Maximum Facial Support for a Younger Look
The position for best muscle function also coincides with the position of maximum facial support, which can restore a youthful facial proportion and appearance. If dentures don’t stimulate your jaw but only sit on your gum tissue, your face has a sunken appearance even when wearing the dentures. However, a neuromuscular denture from Strickland Facelift Dentures™ is designed to fit precisely, harmonizing the relationship between the muscles of the mouth and neck, as well as the jaws and the denture teeth. The result? You have a comfortable denture that works with your facial structures to fit well with a more natural bite and look with the added benefits of:
  • Plumper, younger looking lips & facial fullness
  • Less wrinkles
  • Tighter neck
  • Stronger chin
  • Custom fit to prevent jawbone deterioration

Andy Sommer Creates Your Neuromuscular Denture
Andy Sommer is a Fellow with the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies (LVI) and has studied the concepts of neuromuscular dentistry extensively. He serves patients from throughout the GTA and Southwestern Ontario, specializing with Strickland Facelift Dentures™. He customizes your neuromuscular denture beginning with a bite registration, using a specialized instrument called a Myomonitor which relaxes the muscles around your head and neck. Accurate measurements and computer-generated information then help us design dentures that will position the jaws for optimal function, utilizing the muscles to naturally stabilize the dentures.

Artistry Customizes Your New Smile
Artistry comes into play when designing the features of your replacement teeth. We study the smallest details of tooth placement, size, colour and dimensions to create a beautiful, natural-looking final smile. Creating your Strickland Facelift Dentures™ does take longer and is more expensive, but the functional, aesthetic and comfort benefits mean that most patients consider them a good investment.
